Rage Against The Machine Took The Power Back
September 4, 2008 – 6:45 pm by Jonathan GrandRage Against The Machine were denied access to the stage at the Ripple Effect festival, a day-long event held at the MN State Capitol’s Upper Mall, to promote non-partisan progressive politics in the shadow of the Republican convention.
So the band used a megaphone to speak to the crowd, performing Bulls on Parade and Killing in the Name… a capella.
I never thought I would live to see something so kick-ass as a protest for the right to artistic expression, et al. I’m sure you will have to agree, independently of your political stance, and whether or not you’re a fan of Rage Against The Machine. It was definitely an inspirational move coming from this well known politically activist rock band of the 90’s. As musicians, their legendary acts are still seen today by many as one of the most memorable in the last decades.
Enjoy!
